Acceptable Identification Requirement
A notary is required to exercise a high degree of care in determining the identity of any person whose identity is the subject of a notarial act. At least one of the following nine unexpired documents is required for the principal and any witnesses (if applicable)::
- A United States Passport
- A United States Passport Card
- A certificate of United States citizenship
- A certificate of naturalization
- A foreign passport
- A United States green card with photograph
- A state issued driver’s license
- A State-issued identification card
- A United States military identification card
